SPICE’d is developmentally aligned. Meaning academics emerge organically through inquiry and play. While S.P.A is not a traditional academic preschool, our approach intentionally prepares children for lifelong learning; including academic readiness. Literacy, numeracy, and executive functioning are all embedded through rich, play-based experiences that reflect how young children truly learn. Children will leave S.P.A confident in their ability to ask questions, explore problems, tell stories, and make connections.
We use responsive guidance rooted in emotional coaching, reflections, and relationships. We help children build internal tools for regulation, communication, and repair.
Yes — rain, snow, or shine (Health Canada permitting). Nature is a central part of our curriculum, and outdoor play is built into our daily routines.
Yes. Our teachers are trained in responsive practice and will work collaboratively with families to support each child’s individual needs ranging from their learning styles, temperaments, and personalities. In cases where a child requires consistent one-on-one support to fully access our environment or curriculum, we gently ask families to bring in external support (such as a respite worker or aide) or access funding available through community or provincial programs. This allows us to honor the child’s learning needs while maintaining a balanced group dynamic. We guide families through this process with empathy, privacy, and care.
